Steve Knapp, Photographer

Steve graduated from Dundee Central School, in the Finger Lakes Region of Western New York State, in 1961 and then left the area to attend college and graduate school. After living in Philadelphia for over 30 years, where he reared his three sons and operated a graphic design business, he moved back to the Finger Lakes in 2002. He and his friend Nancy now live on Knapp Road in Barrington, south of Penn Yan, New York, where they enjoy one of the premiere views of Keuka Lake and one of the finest views in the Finger Lakes Region.

The view of Keuka Lake from his home stimulated his current interest in photographing the beauty of the Finger Lakes.

Steve’s photographs have appeared several times in Life In The Finger Lakes magazine, which published features of his photos in its Fall, 2004 and Summer, 2013 issues. One of his photos of Hammondsport, N Y., was on the cover of its Fall, 2007 issue. His photos have also appeared in Finger Lakes regional travel guides.

Steve's photos include those of many of the region's 11 Finger Lakes, as well as pets, farms, barns, animals and several of the region's villages. His interest in the geology of the Finger Lakes comes to expression in his photographs of the region's many waterfalls, gorges.

Steve's Travel Photography, posted here thus far, includes images of Maui, Ohau and the Big Island in Hawaii, and will eventuallyl include images from his travels to Best Friends Animal Sancturary in Kanab, Utah, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Arches Natioal Park and Monument Valley in Utah and New Mexico, and of Las Vegas, New England, Toronto and Nova Scotia.

His photographs are available as matted and framed or unframed prints in various sizes, including photo insert cards. He is especially known for his canvas panoramics, including his "Four Seasons" of Canandaigua and Keuka Lakes.

They can be viewed by appointment at his home studio (see below), at Browsers in Hammondsport, Long’s Cards and Books, Keuka Creations, and the Flick Gallery in Penn Yan, Artizan’s Art Gallery in Naples, the Heron Hill Winery on the West side of Keuka Lake, The Olney Place on the East Side of Keuka Lake, the  Franklin Street Gallery   in Watkins Glen, and Veraizons Restaurant at Glenora Winery on the West side of Seneca Lake.

Steve shows his photography at several Finger Lakes art shows during the summer
