The Story Behind the Shot: In 1993, Yuri Neyman was on location in the rural part of Lithuania when he turned his stills camera on life in the area. The beautiful simplicity of the life in this remote village motivated him to take a black-and-white photograph of a friend - and the location.
Artist bio: Yuri Neyman, ASC is the founder and President of Global Cinematography Institute in Los Angeles, an organization dedicated to bringing new talent into the entertainment world. Before emigrated to the United States, he worked as a Director of Photography/SFX Supervisor in Moscow. In the States he shot many features including Liquid Sky and D.O.A. When not teaching, he is out exploring with his stills camera.
