Item Description

Go behind the scenes at the Met Opera! See the legendary Opera House in a way most people never do!

The Metropolitan Opera is a vibrant home for the most creative and talented artists, including singers, conductors, composers, orchestra musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers from around the world. Known as the venue for the world's greatest voices, the Met has been under the musical direction of James Levine since 1976. Maestro Levine is credited with having created one of opera's finest orchestras and choruses.

A Met Tour Guide will take you through the house, giving insight into both the extraordinary history and the day-to-day workings of the Met. Depending on the theater schedule on the day of your tour, you will view the various craft shops, where costumes and scenery are designed and built; the backstage area and dressing rooms, rehearsal halls and scene storage areas, and possibly a peek at the stage from the other side of the curtain. The tours last one to one-and-a-half hours, depending on the interests of the group.
