Item Description

Alison Engle, a resident of Washington State and a naturalist, comes to the auction with this most beautiful piece.

A print of an original oil painting is presented on a stretched canvas in order to make this 22 x 28 scene just come to life

"Sentinals of the Salish Sea; J1 and J2". The painting was inspired from a photo originally taken by Sandy Buckley.

The whales in this print are male  J -1 “Ruffles” 1951(est.)-2010  & female J-2 “Granny” born 1911 (est.).

It is believed that Ruffles was Granny’s probable son.  Ruffles was one of the most iconic of the Southern Residents. His wavy dorsal fin could be easily identified from a mile away.  He can be seen in the opening shots of Free Willie 2, while Granny is estimated to be the oldest of the SRK.

What a special piece of art to grace anyone's home.
