Item Description

About the Artisits (from Stephany)

Tracey and I have been together almost 2 years at this point.  When first telling friends about the possibilty of receiving a Helping Hands monkey one of the first questions I got was "are you going to teach her how to paint?".  I began painting around eight years ago as a form of therapy for me.  I've had no formal training in painting but wanted to be able to express myself through a different medium that I hadn't encountered in the past.  I like to refer to my style as "colorful landscapes".

I had some blank canvas in with my supplies so I pulled one out, set it on the table, and Tracey proceeded to sit on top of it, scratch the canvas with her fingers and then get off of it and start turning it over to make sure she could examine every square inch of it!  Next came trying to pick out a paint brush that she could hold comfortably.  After we had the canvas in place and a paint brush with her name on it I pull out a few tubes of paint.  I let Tracey decide which color she wants to paint with each time she paints.  Once she has picked her color I go ahead and get a wet sponge ready, just in case she gets it all over her hands. While I'm doing this I'm watching Tracey out of the corner of my eye to try to pick up where she wants to put her chosen color.  She usually will move the canvas around a little and position the canvas just how she wants it.  When I hand her the paint brush, if she's in the mood, she will put the brush on the canvas.  Where ever she puts the brush is where I put a blob of paint.  The rest is history.  Tracey only works with one color at a time, lets it dry and then picks another color to add to her creation.

I hope you enjoy her paintings.  I believe, from the noises she makes while painting, that it is a good outlet for her to express herself!!
