Item Description
Checking the temperature has never been as beautiful as with this colorful, tabletop Galileo thermometer.
Centuries ago, Galileo discovered that a liquid's density varies with temperature. This work of scientific art contains colored-glass temperature indicator spheres calibrated to within a fraction of a gram to measure indoor temperature. The balls float in a clear liquid, changing position with fluctuations in temperature. The lowest floating sphere indicates the current temperature. The thermometer measures approximately 11 inches tall.
Many thanks to Theresa Lee, the Charles Sumner Elementary School's esteemed science teacher, for donating this thermometer.
