Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum
2451 Kissel Hill Road, Lancaster, PA
www.landisvalleymuseum.org

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum collects, preserves and interprets the history and material culture of the Pennsylvania German rural community from 1740 to 1940 and enhances understanding of their successful practices, interactions with others, and the impact on the state and nation for citizens of and visitors to the Commonwealth.

The museum's richly layered story is the history of an early Pennsylvania German settlement, an unusual farm family, and the ongoing creation and exploration of a wonderfully diverse collection of artifacts.  When brothers Henry Kinzer Landis (1865-1955) and George Diller Landis (1867 - 1954) opened the museum in 1925 at their Landis Valley residence, the area had been a small Pennsylvania German settlement since the mid 1800s. Expanded to its current size, we now invite visitors to experience 18th and 19th century village and farm life in Lancaster County, Pa, all in one visit. With over 100 acres and many historic buildings to explore throughout the four seasons, there's always something to see at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum.

* Admission includes special Special Events. Can not be combined with any other offer.

The National Toy Train Museum
300 Paradise Ln., Strasburg, PA
www.nttmuseum.org

The National Toy Train Museum recreates a family "train room," but on a larger scale. The building resembles a Victorian Era California railroad station, but is located in the fertile Pennsylvania Dutch farm country of Lancaster County, PA, near several other major railroad visitor venues.

It contains one of the most extensive toy train collections in the world. Trains that children pushed, pulled or rode upon are included. The collection also includes miniature trains that are accurate replicas of their full sized counterparts. The Museum exhibits trains from the mid-1800s through the present day.

* Expires 11/3/15.

The North Museum of Natural History & Science
400 College Ave., Lancaster, PA
www.northmuseum.org

The North Museum of Natural History & Science is a museum that is supposed to teach everyone, especially young children, the true history of science and everything with it. However, as history goes, you can not learn everything of the past without being there; although they do the best they can.

The museum generates not only excitement but also curiosity about science, history and also technology. In fact, the museum features many extensive collections and exhibits that are hands-on, teaching about the environment. You will also be able to learn and explore more about outer space, the Native Americans, rocks and minerals, dinosaurs, history and science in general, as well as going into many rooms that are on a particular discovery.

You will also be able to work with machines that show you how tidal waves and tornado are made! There are also many "special" exhibits that are being shown throughout the year, as well.

Besides exhibits of all kinds and special rooms to explore, there are also people that give lecture programs, showing of live animals and have special events.

Whether you are going to the museum for yourself or with your child, it is most definitely a trip that is worth going to; especially if you will end up learning something new. It is always a good thing to learn about the past.

* Please check their website on updates on their renovation project and when their main building will reopen in early 2015. Expires 6/30/15.
