About Artisanal Fromagerie and Bistro

With chef-proprietor Terrance Brennan (of the critically acclaimed Picholine, where he earned a Michelin star) at its helm, this modern bistro offers elegant French fare, in addition to some 100 handcrafted cheeses at its stylish and justly popular fromagerie. While the Art Deco interior (designed by architect Adam Tihany) and a mural-sized painting evoke the literary cafés of 1930s-era Paris, the true hallmark of this restaurant is the food, which according to Time Out New York ¿bring[s] to mind a Chardin still life.¿ The wine list boasts 80 varietals by the glass, and dinner, brunch and lunch menus offer French classics made with sustainable and organic ingredients whenever possible.

Diners delight in French-inspired cuisine, like fluffy gougères, rich country pâté, wild Burgundy escargots in butter and leek fondue¿and those are just the hors d¿oeuvres. Main courses include steak au poivre, signature chicken (cooked skin-side down with a weighted brick), along with a rotating plat du jour, which ranges from beef short ribs to bouillabaisse. And no meal here would be complete without a course of cheese, whether a decadent three-cheese Swiss fondue or a refined slice of Morbier straight from the aging cave in the back of the dining room. Before you depart, satisfy your sweet tooth with the renowned cheesecake, surrounded by a buttery-pecan-shortbread crust enhanced by pralines and caramel.
