The 2015 Benton Lecture series complements the Benton County Historical Society and Museums main first floor gallery exhibition “Something Old, Something Blue” featuring blue artifacts from the collections.

This educational and entertaining series of four lectures will provide  insights and fascinating discussion by a slate of acclaimed and highly qualified speakers, authors and academics talking about the many aspects of the concept and meanings of blue.
Monday February 23, 2015—“Obesity and Depression in the Enlightenment”-Anita Guerrini, OSU

Monday March 2, 2015— “Finding Water the Old Timey Way” Todd Jarvis, OSU Professor Jarvis discusses the fascinating practice of water witching.

Monday March 9, 2015— “Something Old, Something New” Leslie Dunlap, Willamette University-have a conversation with Professor Dunlap about the history of marriage and what it means today.

Monday, March 16, 2015—“Boys in Blue” Ken Elwer, Police Chief, Philomath Police Department. Chief Elwer discusses the changes in policing over the past 25 years. Monday, March 23, 2015— “Red, White and Blue: Apparel of World War II” Jennifer Mower, OSU instructor talks about her research into consumers and clothing during the war.
