Interested in helping tribal chiefs in Sierra Leone create a more peaceful and prosperous country through leadership development, conflict transformation training, dialogue facilitation, and technical assistance?

Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBB) is running a Tribal Chiefs Academy that needs your support! The highest bidder on this auction item will receive a receipt for income tax purposes, a personalized Thank You Card via e-mail from the project team, and a project update upon completion.

Our goal is to raise the funds and be positioned to implement the program as soon as it is safe to travel. The programs are more important than ever as leadership capacity building on the ground is essential to the country's recovery and development.

The Tribal Chiefs Academy will take place over seven days and will engage local organizations to bring 24 tribal and village leaders to meet together to learn new mediation models and skills to add to their traditional approaches, while also engaging in small group problem solving and positive relationship building.

The skills and curricula will be developed based on data gathered in focus groups and will be adapted and revised to target the specific needs of established community tribal leaders locally, regionally, and nationally. The local partner organizations throughout the nation will also be trained to maintain support and work long distance with the MBB Project Team in order to maintain participation, focus on impact, and ensure sustainability.

The project is ambitious in its scope and aim, with a national reach and an international faculty, and will require a budget of approximately $40,000. The bidders on this auction item will have a special opportunity to get involved by contributing to MBB's Tribal Chiefs Project and by helping to make these activities possible!

Co-led by Loretta Raider (Principal of the Raider Consulting Group, USA) and Debey Sayndee (Director of the Kofi Annan Institute for Conflict Transformation, University of Liberia), MBB's Sierra Leone Project works towards building sustainable peace in the region by empowering four target audiences: youth, women, tribal chiefs, and local community leaders

WAVES, Project 1991, Colrag Family, Eastern Region Football Association, Youth for Development, Northern Polytechnic Student Union Government, United Social Youth Development Association, and the Institute for Leadership and Peace Building.
