Item Description
MBB's Sierra Leone Project Team is unable to travel to SL at this time due to travel restrictions and the Ebola outbreak, but our partners have been in touch and are asking for our immediate help. We will present our Training of Trainers Program online to build the capacity of community leaders on the ground in mediation, dialogue and working with trauma. Our plan is do this quickly beginning in December 2014 and concluding the program in January 2015 to support our partners in mitigating conflicts resulting from mixed and confused information, the growing political and regional divide and the trauma that civil society is experiencing as a result of the Ebola crisis. Your donation will be put to use immediately to implement this program!
The Training of Trainers Academy will teach 16 community leaders skills and competencies that will enable them to facilitate dialogue sessions, mediate conflicts within communities dealing with the trauma of the Ebola crisis, and train civil society in conflict transformation skills . The goal is to provide the opportunity for diverse groups to promote an understanding of one another and to provide peace-building skills to people in communities throughout the country .
The participants will come from partner organizations, as well as additional community leaders and professionals who want to become involved and active in their communities. Participants will be identified by MBB's local partners based on selection criteria that includes an understanding of issues and challenges facing Sierra Leone, a high school or college education, and requisite working experience.
The project is ambitious in its scope and aim, with a national reach and an international faculty, and will require a budget of approximately $10,000. The bidders on this auction item will have a special opportunity to get involved by contributing to MBB?s Training of Trainers Online Program and by helping to make these activities possible!
