In 1991, our founder headed for the Himalayas in search of something to fill her cup, metaphorically speaking. While she was there, her cup was filled--we're talking literally this tim--with a rich, creamy, spiced tea. With chai.

So began the process of perfection

She came home and dedicated three years to perfecting her Western interpretation of this delectable drink and dubbed it Oregon Chai. Today we remain true to our founder's Oregonian roots and heritage of introducing authentic chai to America.

We believe in using organic and 100% natural ingredients as much as humanly possible. In fact, most of Oregon Chai's concentrates are over 90% organic--perhaps you noticed the USDA Organic seal.

Our Oregon Cafe espresso concentrates are crafted with the finest espresso, natural flavor and a touch of cane sugar.

We like our carbon footprints small

Because you mix all Oregon Chai and Oregon Cafe products to your taste with your own milk or water, we use energy more efficiently. In fact, we use less energy to manufacture, fill, ship and store our products than any ready-to-drink beverage on the market.

Our concentrates, powdered mixes and tea bags have also been designed to have very high product-to-package ratios. For example, if you buy a carton of Oregon Chai or Oregon Cafe concentrate you take home 94% product and only 6% packaging.

Green, sustainable, organic

Our natural ingredients are sourced from farms and plantations where organic agriculturists foster the recycling of resources and are committed to promoting ecological balance. Many items are independently Certified Organic and sanctioned by the USDA.

Each and every carton is made with responsibly sourced materials. No old-growth trees or rain forests for us. Our paper only comes from growing forests where the trees we use are replaced and biodiversity is maintained.

What's more, all of our packaging is made with over 50% recycled materials.

And you can help us recycle

Oregon Chai's powdered mix and tea bag cartons are recyclable in every state in the United States and our canister packaging is frequently recyclable as a metal. It's true.

Oregon Chai and Oregon Cafe concentrates are packaged in compact, lightweight paper Tetra Paks, which are recyclable in 30 million households across 28 states, to date.
