Vaishravana is the guardian king of the northern direction and a protector and creator of wealth. He is closely associated with Dzambhala, who also symbolizes the protection of wealth.
Vaishravana rides a fearless lion and hold a mongoose that spits out wish-fulfilling jewels. The mongoose is the enemy of the snake, a symbol of greed or hatred; the ejection of jewels represents generosity.In his right hand he holds a banner of victory, symbol of the victorious quality of enlightenment.
This thangka features 6 additional deities, including Ratnasambhava, Amitabha, Green Tara, White Tara, Medicine Buddha and Shakyamuni.
