Item Description
The lot that you are bidding on is an Adams and Westlake railroad lantern. It has no markings on the lid, except for a faint embossed Adams and Westlake The lantern has a red globe that is not etched. The lantern does include its burner.
This is an authentic antique Railroad Lantern. It was probably used by the train crew to give signals to the engine crew at night.
Also if you have ever wondered where the term "red-light" district came from, it came from the railroaders who would visit the houes and leave their red light (lantern) ourside.
