Item Description
Whether wanting to hear about mindfulness for the first time or find a group to support your existing practice, the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto, Canada, has a place for you. With this item the successful bidder will take part in a half-day beginners workshop.
Mindfulness for Beginners 1 offers an opportunity to learn about and experience the basics of mindfulness. Mindfulness practices provide a way to get some space from the constant mental chatter that can be a source of distress. Mindfulness has been validated by research as a simple way to calm the mind and slow down the tendency to react automatically. It opens the way to a wider perspective on experience and increases the number of forms a response might take.
Workshop details:
- Learn very specific techniques to work with the mind and body
- Develop resources to help feel more alive in everyday life
- Have an open forum to ask any questions about mindfulness meditation and practices
Facilitator Elaine Smookler is a Centre for Mindfulness Studies faculty member and has been practicing mindfulness for 20 years. She is the co-author of the upcoming book, Killers, Coffins & Cadavers: A Humorous guide to Death and Dying, a comedic take on the details of death. She has contributed to a variety of publications and projects on the subject of mindfulness.
