Item Description
Bakersfield OTR was inspired by a city (Bakersfield, CA) known for spawning an era of music called the Bakersfield Sound. The 'Sound' was a reaction to the slick, pop country music coming out of Nashville. It was firmly country but had more of a rock n' roll influence, and was a bit less polished than other records of the time. Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and others defined this type of music, and it quickly became a nation-wide phenomenon in the 1950's and 1960¿s. These guys were rebels of their time. Rock stars with a hillbilly, country attitude.
This music has recently seen resurgence in many major cities around of the country and certain rural towns. In some ways the popularity of this music is a reaction to a lot of fabricated pop music that is ubiquitous in our pop culture today. The Bakersfield Sound is a refreshing departure from some current records, and is more 'country rock n' roll' versus pop- country.
Bakersfield isn't all country, however. It explores the sounds of classic rock n roll, blues, upcoming rock artists, modern-day rockabilly, etc. Rest assured, when you walk into Buck's house, he will show ya one hell of a good time!
Bakersfield CA was a small agricultural city with Mexican influence. Therefore, Bakersfield is throwing down Mexican-influenced street fare with a focus on tacos, tequilas, and whiskeys. Their tequila, whiskeys, and beers range from super premium to super affordable. With the restaurant being so close to the Bluegrass State, their whiskeys will be American whiskeys, or bourbons from Kentucky. They also have a wine selection.
This gift certificate is good for $20 at Bakersfield OTR.
