Winemaker Notes:
The 2009 growing season had a cooler summer, with highs in the 90’s in September, and a cool October. This allowed for a slow ripening and pushed harvest back a few weeks. We had about 2-3 inches of rain in October, but our Cabernet turned out beautifully picking just a day before the heaviest rain storm. Fruit quality in 2009 was superb with great intensity and clarity.
The dense and dark garnet color opens with intense aromas of dark berries, vanilla, black olive, and tobacco. The first sip is tantalizing with flavors of lush black cherries, cassis, nutmeg, and toasted caramel. The wine finishes strong with well-developed tannins.
