Item Description

Want to live your dreams--or even surpass them? Want the world to change for the better? Want to see a miracle? What are we waiting for? Why not be the miracle?

That's the challenge Regina Brett sets forth in "Be the Miracle." To be a miracle doesn't necessarily mean tackling problems across the globe. It means making a difference, believing change is possible, even in your own living room, cubicle, neighborhood, or family.

Through a collection of inspirational essays, Regina shares lessons that will help people make a difference in the world around them. The lessons come from Regina's life experience and from the lives of others, especially those she has met in her 24 years as a journalist. Each chapter is a lesson that can stand alone, but together they form a handbook for seeing the miracle of change everywhere.

With upbeat lessons from "Do Your Best and Forget the Rest" to "Sometimes It's Enough to Make One Person Happy," these lessons will help you accept and embrace yourself, challenge and change yourself, and better serve others.

Regina Brett is a New York Times bestselling author. Her first book, "God Never Blinks: 50 Lessons for Life's Little Detours," is in 26 countries. She also wrote "Be the Miracle: 50 Lessons for Making the Impossible Possible." Both books are collections of inspirational essays and stories about the lessons life taught her.

She was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist twice, in 2009 and 2008, for columns she wrote for The Plain Dealer, Ohio's largest newspaper.

When Regina turned 50, she wrote a column on the 50 lessons life taught her. A life as an unwed mother. A life as a single parent for 18 years. A life searching for love and finally finding it at 40. A life interrupted by breast cancer at age 41. A life that reflects the ups and downs, twists and turns we all face.

Readers love her lessons. They post them on their refrigerators. They carry them in their wallets. They tuck them in their purses. They email them all over the country. Her lessons have traveled the world from Austin to Australia. Preachers share them from the pulpit. Teachers pass them out in schools. Cancer care agencies give them out with wigs.

Regina has been writing professionally since 1986. She began writing columns in 1994. She has received numerous national and state writing awards. Her column appears regularly in The Plain Dealer and in the Cleveland Jewish News. Her columns focus on the issues of every day life. Sometimes touching, often funny and always provocative, Regina's columns touch people where they truly live.

She has a master's degree in religious studies and a bachelor's degree in journalism, and has been a guest lecturer at John Carroll University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, Kent State University and Ursuline College.

Regina is married and has a daughter, two stepsons and three grandchildren. She lives in Greater Cleveland.
