Item Description

Already an internet phenomenon, these wise and insightful lessons by popular newspaper columnist and Pulitzer Prize finalist Regina Brett will make you see the possibilities in your life in a whole new way.

When Regina Brett turned 50, she wrote a column on the 50 lessons life had taught her. She reflected on all she had learned through becoming a single parent, looking for love in all the wrong places, working on her relationship with God, battling cancer and making peace with a difficult childhood. It became one of the most popular columns ever published in the newspaper, and since then the 50 lessons have been emailed to hundreds of thousands of people.

Brett now takes the 50 lessons and expounds on them in essays that are deeply personal. From "Don't take yourself too seriously-Nobody else does" to "Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift," these lessons will strike a chord with anyone who has ever gone through tough times--and haven't we all?

Regina Brett is a New York Times bestselling author. Her first book, "God Never Blinks: 50 Lessons for Life's Little Detours," is in 26 countries. She also wrote "Be the Miracle: 50 Lessons for Making the Impossible Possible." Both books are collections of inspirational essays and stories about the lessons life taught her.

She was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist twice, in 2009 and 2008, for columns she wrote for The Plain Dealer, Ohio's largest newspaper.

When Regina turned 50, she wrote a column on the 50 lessons life taught her. A life as an unwed mother. A life as a single parent for 18 years. A life searching for love and finally finding it at 40. A life interrupted by breast cancer at age 41. A life that reflects the ups and downs, twists and turns we all face.

Readers love her lessons. They post them on their refrigerators. They carry them in their wallets. They tuck them in their purses. They email them all over the country. Her lessons have traveled the world from Austin to Australia. Preachers share them from the pulpit. Teachers pass them out in schools. Cancer care agencies give them out with wigs.

Regina has been writing professionally since 1986. She began writing columns in 1994. She has received numerous national and state writing awards. Her column appears regularly in The Plain Dealer and in the Cleveland Jewish News. Her columns focus on the issues of every day life. Sometimes touching, often funny and always provocative, Regina's columns touch people where they truly live.

She has a master's degree in religious studies and a bachelor's degree in journalism, and has been a guest lecturer at John Carroll University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, Kent State University and Ursuline College.

Regina is married and has a daughter, two stepsons and three grandchildren. She lives in Greater Cleveland.
