Celebrating Black History Month, Ensemble brings to life a civil rights giant who attended Lincoln University where his classmates were the likes of poet Langston Hughes and musician Cab Calloway…

"Thurgood" started on Broadway at the Booth Theatre in April of 2008, starring Laurence Fishburne. In February of 2011, HBO screened a filmed version of the play which Fishburne had performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The production was described by the Baltimore Sun as "one of the most frank, informed and searing discussions of race you will ever see."  The White House hosted a screening of the film in February 2011 as part of its celebrations of Black History Month. 

With the purpose of producing American classics, Ensemble Theatre was founded in 1979 by Artistic Director, Lucia Colombi. It has produced more than 150 plays and offers extensive educational and senior citizen touring programming serving culturally diverse and underserved populations throughout Ohio. Ensemble Theatre is located in historic Coventry Village of Cleveland Heights.
