Item Description
You are bidding on 2 amazing tickets to see the BSO at the Boston Symphony Hall on Valentine's Day. Seats are located first center balcony, 2nd row.
Description:
Adventurous Russian conductor Vladimir Jurowski, who is principal conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, teams here with the BSO and estimable French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard for a new work written for Aimard: Sir Harrison Birtwistle's Responses: Of sweet disorder and the carefully careless, a BSO co-commission receiving its American premiere at these concerts. Jurowski leads the world premiere of Responses with the LPO and Aimard in December 2014; the work's subtitle references an essay collection by the British architect/historian Robert Maxwell, Emeritus Professor of Architecture at Princeton University. Opening the program is a selection of short, colorful works by the Russian composer Anatoly Liadov, whose works were frequently championed by Serge Koussevitzky. Stravinsky's complete ballet score The Firebird, his first phenomenal success for the Ballets Russes, fills out these concerts.
