To preserve and to promote roots and Americana music from the heartland.
Our Story:
MudStomp Records was founded in 2009 by Jack Stafford and Curtis Copeland--two fans of a specific type of music. Their hope was to capture the fun and excitement that this particular kind of music brought to people of all ages and backgrounds. The music was raw, unpolished and was just as entertaining to watch as it was to listen to. There is one thing to be said about this music: when you listen, you can't help but move. Thus, the name "MudStomp" was born. It has since not only become a record label, but also its own music genre.
MudStomp music has the backbone of Americana acoustic instrumentation and the explosive energy level of traditional bluegrass. Each MudStomp artist has a unique sound and stage presence, which makes the “MudStomp Family” a diverse collection of music styles and influences. Some bands draw heavily upon delta blues and folk. Some lean more toward Appalachia and mountain music. Others list rockabilly and country music as their inspiration. And still more are influenced by rock and what we like to call "punk grass" or "speed grass". We want to bring you great music and the indescribable feeling you get when you experience it. We promise: it's a feeling you won't soon forget!
Artists such as the Ben Miller Band, Whistle Pigs, Tyrannosaurus Chicken, and Mountain Sprout all got their start on this label.
MudStomp Records is based in Overland Park, KS with offices in Springfield, MO and Tulsa, OK.
