Item Description
Have lunch with scholar, humanitarian, and documentary filmmaker Abigail Disney.
Abigail Disney, grand-niece of Walt Disney, turned to the family business of filmmaking after she met Liberian peace activist (and Girl Be Heard honoree!) Leymah Gbowee in 2006. She launched her filmmaking career with the documentary film Pray the Devil Back to Hell, about the women-led peace movement in Liberia. This film ultimately became part of Women, War & Peace, a five part series that aired on PBS in 2011.
Abigail Disney is the President and CEO of Fork Films, as well as being the founder of Peace is Loud, an organization described as "supporting female voices and international peace-building through nonviolent means." She is high up on Girl Be Heard's list of sheroes who do incredible work every day to make sure that the voices of women and girls are heard around the world.
