For more information and pictures, visit this ox at The Hopewell Valley Arts Council Stampede.
Absentee bids are being accepted. If you are unable to attend the Gala and would like to place a bid, please contact Carol Lipson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 609-818-1512 (between 8 am and 9 pm) to make the necessary arrangements.
A flat fee of $250 will be added to the final winning bid to cover administrative fees, which includes delivery within 15 miles of Pennington, New Jersey. Deliveries will be made within two weeks of the auction to a garage or driveway. If your delivery location is greater than 15 miles, additional charges will be determined and agreed upon prior to delivery.
Arrangements have been made with The Green Scene to deliver the oxen after the Gala. The Green Scene is a local landscaping business that installed most of the oxen throughout Hopewell Valley. They are available for hire to provide additional services, such as reinstalling the ox with cabling or enhancing your landscaping to feature your ox.
The finished artwork began as a "naked" cast ox manufactured by The Theme Factory of Philadelphia using a fiber-reinforced polyester laminating resin. The finished ox has been sealed with a marine varnish in a gloss finish, suitable for outdoor or indoor use. Annual reapplication of weatherproofing is recommended to extend its durability for outdoor use. Due to the non-permanent nature of the artwork, the oxen are not intended to be climbed on or handled roughly.
The ox is 8 feet long from tip to tail, 23" wide and 60" high, and fits through a standard doorway. It weighs approximately 100 pounds. While awkward to pick up, it is very moveable & steady. The ox will arrive on removable 2x4s, ready for you to install.
The Hopewell Valley Arts Council is a Section 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The purchase of an ox may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes. Given the subjective nature of "valuing artwork", we strongly recommend that you consult with your tax adviser to determine the tax approach best suited for your personal situation.
