Head Lice creates a huge stress for School Nurses and Moms due to the confusion about effective treatment required for eradication. NitWits: was Founded in 2004 by School Nurse Berit Pratt RN BSN MPH to help School Nurses and Families better manage head lice in their communities. We invented the terms "MLS" (or "Mom Lice Stress") and "NLS" (or "Nurse Lice Stress"). Head Lice are misunderstood, harmless human parasites and there is still a very strong social stigma associated with Head Lice in the USA. This adds to both "Mom Lice Stress" and "Nurse Lice Stress". All of our parents also have "Delusional Parasitosis" (Your whole body itches, even if you don't have Lice). Over the past 10 years we have developed our own specialized head lice removal technique, that removes both the insects and the eggs, and prevents them from coming back.  We have seen families from all over New England,  We've learned that head lice are not viable in carpets, beds, cars, couches, clothing or hats.  So you can stop vacuuming, doing laundry, & bagging stuffed animals.  NitWits saves your valuable time by quickly removing the eggs and bugs from your child's head, and educating you about this common, but annoying, parasite. Founder Berit Pratt RN BSN MPH received a Masters in Public Health researching Pesticides and their effects on human health.  We now know that the chemical pesticides used for Head Lice are not longer effective, and possibly toxic.  Our focus on Education gives you the social, political, military, and natural history of Head Lice.  We explain where the extraordinary social stigma about Head Lice comes from. Through our educational program, school nurses and parents, now have access to accurate knowledge, and the proper tools, to effectively and safely manage Head Lice in their communities. Berit Pratt RN BSN MPH is available to PTA, and School Nurse, groups to present her most recent findings and techniques in effective head lice treatment and management.
