Mo's original artwork is featured in many CT and Watch Hill, RI, establishments and galleries.

Maureen Zaharie was born and grew up in Pawcatuck, CT. Mo (as she is known) always admired the paintings of various artists and would have filled her home with their works had her budget allowed it. In an effort to decorate her home affordably but with similar color and creativity as she admired in the works of others, Mo began painting murals on the walls of her children’s bedrooms. She found that she had a hidden talent. Not only did she thoroughly enjoy painting but she was on her way to developing her signature ability to make colors dance and come alive.

She soon started putting her work on canvas. When her children became old enough that they did not need her at home full-time, Mo opened an art and bookstore in Watch Hill, R.I. She successfully sold her artwork there for five years. Her unique and distinct ability to express joy and happiness in each painting by bringing colors to life makes her paintings stand out from all the rest.

Mo’s generous, caring, down-home, and playful energy emanates from her artwork. Her generosity and caring also affect how she runs her business. Customers came to her store not only to enjoy seeing and buying her new work, but to see and interact with Mo. She has a way of making each person feel special!

Being in Watch Hill inspired Mo to explore her hand in photography, which would allow her to capture its beauty and antiquity. Another hidden talent would soon be discovered. The combination of the innate beauty of the area and her eye for angles and lighting gave birth to her amazing photography. She found a way to capture nature’s most expressive, inspiring moments and put them in print to be admired over and over.

Mo truly possesses the eye of an artist which is apparent in each photograph. Mo still lives in Pawcatuck, CT. She is the mother of four beautiful individuals and the grandmother of seven little ones whom she adores.

Mo's artwork and photography are a treat and Mo is a joy! Mo’s art and photography is appearing in art shows in Connecticut at Prime Time Cafe, in Pawcatuck, and Rhode Island. Her unique style is becoming admired by many. People anxiously wait and are excited about any new works by Mo. She is on her way to becoming one of the most renowned local artist of our time!
