Item Description
"Taste another part of Mexico, discover the flavors of Yucatan. The only place if southern California with a truly authentic Yucatan experience."
Chichen Itza Restaurant is a family owned and operated business inside the Mercado la Paloma near Exposition Park. Specializing in Yucatecan food and maintaining the authentic flavor of this original Southeast Mexican Cuisine.
Perhaps start off with Longaniza Asada, the house made chorizo smoked over mesquite embers and served with roasted tomatoes, sliced avocado, roasted onions and tortillas…next enjoying the Papadzules—four rolled corn tortillas moistened with ground roasted pumpkin seed and apazote sauce, stuffed with hardboiled egg and topped with tomato sauce. Craving spicy? Their famous habanero sauce made by hand is not to be missed!
A hidden gem tucked away in the 'Mercado la Paloma' building across the 110 harbor freeway from USC and Exposition Park, Chichen Itza specializes in gourmet Mexican cuisine from the Yucatan region. Everything we ordered was perfectly seasoned and cooked. A great place to eat 'traditional, authentic, handmade' food for reasonable prices. definitely not something you'd think to find in the heart of south central.... Randy D, Rosemead, Yelp Review
