A Flight of Really, Really Big Blackbirds

--One 3L 2010 Blackbird Vineyards Illustration
--One 3L 2010 Blackbird Vineyards Paramour
--One 3L 2010 Blackbird Vineyards Contrarian

Three 3L Bottles of some of the Napa Valley's finest wine! Just imagine--each of these is like a party in a bottle!

Since their premier release in 2003, Blackbird Vineyards' winemaking team has handcrafted truly expressive wines with a focus on the varieties of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their affinity for Merlot and other Bordeaux varietals is reflected in each wonderfully aromatic, rich, and polished vintage. Here are 3 selections from the 2010 vintage, in 3-Litre format, each one a party in a bottle!

The 2010 Proprietary Red Illustration is composed of 48% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 22% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose offers plenty of sweet cassis, blueberry, camphor and floral notes. Fleshy and pure as well as loaded with fruit and character, this is a beautifully balanced, seamless effort that should drink beautifully for 10-15 years – if you can resist it for that long.

The dense purple-colored 2010 Proprietary Red Paramour (41% Cabernet Franc, 36% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon) is slightly more restrained aromatically, displaying blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied, fleshy, voluptuous character, and plenty of richness.

The 2010 Proprietary Red Contrarian is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, a beauty of purity, symmetry, harmony and pure Napa fruit. Abundant notes of blue and black fruits, sweet tannin, and enough acidity for delineation and freshness result in a stunningly impressive wine.

Don't let these 'Birds fly away!
