Item Description

19th century France had a type of guy called a flaneur: a scholar of leisure, an urban explorer, Charles Baudelaire, an emblem of the urban, modern experience.

Well, this is Southern California in the 21st century, but we can engage in flanerie – the art of strolling or wandering around. In fact, one of LA’s best places to do that is along the Los Angeles River. (Wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring water and light snacks.)

KPCC environment reporters Molly Peterson and Jed Kim will lead you and up to 11 guests on an exploration of the Glendale Narrows section of the river, and talk about bird and plant life, what revitalization has already meant here, how LA is working to re-envision the river, and how the river has inspired visual and written art for Angelenos.

In addition to being KPCC’s environment correspondent, Molly Peterson reads a lot of poetry, because she’s related to two poets, so there’s gonna be some poetry!

Scheduling based on availability.

Experience must be redeemed within 6 months of purchase date.

Participants must be at least 10 years of age.
