Art
Item Description
Willi Eggerman used botanical stages as a metaphor for the human stages of life in the creation of this piece. According to Willi, " The seed pod has particular significance to me as a symbol of women, specifically motherhood. I view seed pods as sculptures, performance art even, as they form, swell, open, and eventually disintegrate."
This piece is ceramic, glaze, wood, and copper.
For over 25 years, Willi has been making functional sculpture in the form of pottery, blurring the line between art and craft. She combines function and artistic flow to provide a puzzle that she enjoys solving in each piece. She was previously a baker. She educated herself through many classes and workshops led by local and nationally renowned artists. In 2003, she attended the University of Colorado to study sculpture, drawing, and painting. She opens her studio yearly for the Open Studio tour in Boulder.
