Item Description
The past comes alive as North Hills Campus third graders are immersed in the 19th century Westward Movement along the Oregon Trail. They create economies in their Trading Post, build a notched log cabin in the Pioneer Village, and practice the self-reliance required for survival on the trail.
The BIG FINISH: Pioneer Day, a day spent in the Pioneer Village building a log cabin, cooking a hearty lunch over the open fire, and re-enacting every day chores, from churning butter, to using a ringer washer, to attending school. This culminating event captures the spirit of Pioneer Life and caps off their study of Westward Movement.
Support Pioneer Day and the Third Graders' study of the Westward Movement: $250
Item Special Note
Fund-a-Needs are programs at WT, taken directly from the operating budget and capital campaign, that make WT an enriching experience. Your support of our teachers’ ideas and innovations provide daily inspiration for our students.
As we push toward the Big Finish for Celebrate WT: Campaign for a Smart Future, many of this year’s Fund-A-Needs focus on the “Big Finishes” at WT.
