Item Description

By taking on The Laramie Project as this year’s Winter Play, Upper School students and faculty delved into important, mature, and substantive topics. The production was a testament to what one student described in a recent blog post as "an overwhelming sense of duty" and responsibility to community and human rights.

In addition to staging the play, Upper School students had the rare opportunity to work with one of the playwrights from Tectonic Theatre Project, Leigh Fondakowski. She Skyped with students, came to WT to hold a workshop with them, and attended one of the performances to do a talk-back with the audience afterward.

THE BIG FINISH: Not only have our students prepared intensively to execute a moving theatre experience, and learned about acting, play writing, and staging, they have also opened their minds to the wider world. The Laramie Project demonstrates the depth and importance of our theatre program, which takes risks, shapes students as human beings, and embraces the arts as a force for progress in our society.

Item Special Note

This Fund-a-Need may be paid in 4 installments between now and June 30, 2015. After you buy it, you will be contacted by the WT Advancement Office to provide your payment preferences.

Fund-a-Needs are programs at WT, taken directly from the operating budget and capital campaign, that make WT an enriching experience. Your support of our teachers’ ideas and innovations provide daily inspiration for our students.

As we push toward the Big Finish for Celebrate WT: Campaign for a Smart Future, many of this year’s Fund-A-Needs focus on the “Big Finishes” at WT.
