Rising 2nd through 6th grade only.

New Campers only.

Rookie Camp lets your child enjoy day camp this summer, and still get a taste of resident camp life and the Berkshire Hills experience before school starts. Rookie Camp packs all the fun of camp into a five day experience for first time campers. Rookie camp begins on Wednesday August 19th and ends on Sunday August 23rd.

Everyone at Rookie camp is new so all the children get to learn the camp routine together. Rookie Campers follow our traditional camp schedule. They have cabin activities in the morning, electives in the afternoon and unit activities in the evening. Your child will enjoy swimming, sports, arts, nature and campfires before the week is up.

Rookie Camp ends with a family picnic on the shore of our lake. Parents and friends are invited to join their child from 11:00am to 2:00pm for a great afternoon of fun at camp.  When Rookie camp ends, your child will be ready to return next summer as a veteran.

About Berkshire Hills Camp:

Berkshire Hills is a caring community where your child will make friends, gain independence and learn from a dynamic staff. Since Berkshire Hills serves about two hundred campers, our entire camp community develops close relationships. Older campers are big brothers and sisters to campers in younger groups while bunk groups and units are like immediate and extended families. Berkshire Hills campers live in community according to eight core Jewish values- Integrity, Respect, Joy, Spirit, Acts of Loving Kindness, Repairing the World, Nature and the Connection with Friends-all while having an incredible summer of fun.

Berkshire Hills Values

Our top priority is to create a safe, supportive and loving environment for every child. Berkshire Hills campers thrive as a result. At Berkshire Hills, we use the lens of Jewish teaching and the experience of group living to build a strong community that reflects traditional Jewish values.

While we use Jewish language to talk about these values, we believe strongly that every child – regardless of their religion or background – benefits from learning about Integrity (Yosher), Respect (Kavod), Repairing the World (Tikun Olam), Joy (Simcha), Acts of Loving Kindness (Gemilute Chasadim), Nature (Teva), Spirit (Ruach), and Connection to Friends (Divikute Chaverim).

Therefore, we welcome all children, Jewish and non- Jewish, with open arms.

Like all learning at camp, these values are not taught in a classroom – but on the ball field, in a dance class, and around campfires. In this way, campers not only learn about these values – they live them.
