2011 Oonapais Sonoma Mountain Red - 1 bottle donated by Mike Johnson
Oonapais is round and juicy with velvety tannins, bright acidity and a long, refreshing finish. It’s a Demeter-certified Biodynamic® wine produced entirely from the Benziger Family Estate, nestled into the side of Sonoma Mountain. The Sonoma Mountain appellation is one of the smallest and most exclusive appellations in California. The Native Americans who first lived in the area were intimately familiar with the land and its diversity of sun exposures and soil types. They called it "Oonapais" after the Buckeye trees found on Sonoma Mountain.
2010 Hendry Zinfandels - 2 bottles donated by Jen Taylor
88 points Wine Enthusiast. This wine marries Napa Valley’s elegant tannin structure with Zin’s naturally briary rusticity, with good results. The flavors abound in wild berry, currant, tobacco, cola, tabasco and exotic spice. It will be great with grilled beef.âÂÂÂ?¨Wine Enthusiast | December 2012
2008 Rockpile Jack’s Cabin Zinfandel - 1 bottle donated by Molli Hoos
90 points Wine Enthusiast. This low-production Zin gets extra credit for sheer power. It’s explosive, with briary, brambly flavors of wild raspberry, cherry and blackberry, complete with spice notes of anise, cinnamon and pepper, all wrapped in soft tannins. This would be great now with spicy beef and poultry dishes or pizza. Wine Enthusiast | December 2012
