Malcah Zeldis became interested in baseball at a very young age when her brother was sick. She would sit with him and listen to the baseball game on the radio. It was comforting and entertaining to have this special time together. In this image, she captures a realistic baseball game in Detroit. Malcah Zeldis is one of the most well known contemporary American self-taught artists. Her artwork is on permanent display at the Smithsonian Institution and in the collection of twenty three other museums around the world. She has illustrated eleven children's books.
