Cowgirl opened its doors in February of 1989. The restaurant was conceived and founded by Sherry Delamarter after a visit to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame Museum in Hereford, Texas. Sherry brought the images, soul, and cooking of the Western cowgirl to New York City and created a warm, Texas-friendly atmosphere, one of the first true Country Western locations in NYC. We were also the first to offer a warm welcome to buckaroos with a kids menu and trick-roping demonstrations on Hudson Street's now-bygone parking meters.

Reviews from "Yelp":

"One of my fav places for brunch in NYC. Tex Mex and Southern foods like Chicken Fried Chicken, Frito pie, nachos. But they also make great pancakes and eggs with cheese grits for brunch. Fun place for kids; they have a little store with retro candy and toys in the front of restaurant. Great bar and good drink selections. Been coming here for more than 10 years and loving it. Casual atmosphere with wooden bench seating, kitschy decor like pictures of cowgirls, western memorabilia.  I need to pay this place a visit again soon!"

"I love this place, and I just can't get enough of it. In fact, I'd go here every week if I could b/c it's literally one of my favorite places for comfort food in NYC! Now don't come to Cowgirl expecting to eat a healthy meal (I mean, sure they got some salads)... but, this is the place you should go if you're ready to eat a big boy meal... like a Frito Pie! Yep, you heard right! And, nom nom nom, you won't be sorry you ordered it b/c it's that tasty! I do, however, recommend that you order it as an appetizer or to share with someone so that you can order some of their other delicious food as an entrée! Oh, and in case you're wondering just what the hell a Frito Pie is... well, it's actually a fairly simple thing-- just fritos doused w/ chili and cheese! As a kid growing up in the south, it was one of my favorite things!

"What about their other menu items? Quesadillas, Texas Onion Loaf, Sweet Potato Fries-- it's all good!! Also, I've visited The Cowgirl Hall of Fame for brunch, and I'd say you can't go wrong with anything on the brunch menu!

"The atmosphere at Cowgirl is very casual--one side features a long bar with some additional bar table seating, and they have a separate dining room with booths and additional tables. There's wood everywhere, and the place is decorated with a Western theme... but it works because, after all, it's the Cowgirl Hall of Fame!"
