Item Description
Clay and wood chess set with carrying case.
This chess set was lovingly handmade by the children of Class 501.
Alan led a design session to decide on the perfect shape for each piece. Lenny generously contributed the clay, as well as the great idea to make the pieces retain the clay’s natural white and red colors. Having agreed on the shapes, the kids divided into groups to individually sculpt each piece in one marathon (and messy) session. They worked really hard and did a great job.
The pieces were then carefully carried down to the basement where Lenny stored them for two weeks to dry before getting fired in his kilns. The painted wood chess board was sized to perfectly fit the finished pieces. In keeping with the natural colors of the clay, the chess board alternates between white and natural wood squares.
The lucky winner receives: the board, with felt-covered feet to protect your furniture; the pieces stored in a foam-packed aluminum case (for safe transport and storage), and over a dozen extra pieces.
We know you will have as much fun playing with the chess set as we had making it. Thanks for supporting PS3
