Anne Willan has more than fifty years' experience as a teacher, cookbook author, and food writer. Founder of the acclaimed French cooking school Ecole de Cuisine La Varenne, Anne was recently inducted into the James Beard Foundation's Hall of Fame for her body of work. She has authored more than thirty cookbooks, and her latest, Secrets from the La Varenne Kitchen: 50 Essential Recipes Every Cook Needs to Know (Spring House Press), launches in Spring 2015. The eBook edition of Anne's La Varenne Pratique was published in 2013. Part 1: A Visit to Anne's Library. Ideal for writers or food enthusiasts. Guests are invited to see Anne Willan's extensive working research library of over 5,000 cookbooks, including volumes that date to the 15th and 16th centuries. Anne will pull books according to participants' interests for discussion. Part 2: Experience the Test Kitchen in Action. Move into Anne's test kitchen to observe recipe testing in progress for one of her upcoming books or articles. The maximum of three guests join Anne's tasting team to evaluate the tested recipes. One of the most admired recipe writers in the food world, Anne provides a full explanation of her own testing process and the importance of accuracy in recipe writing. She will also distribute her signature La Varenne instructions on How to Write a Recipe. This is the perfect opportunity for the aspiring food writer, for someone who loves to cook, for the avid cookbook collector, for the keeper/preserver of treasured family recipes. and/or for anyone who just loves food.
