Item Description
12" x 12" Recycled Bus Shelter Glass Plate (Height is appox 1" )
An absoltutely beautiful glass art peice!
When SF bus shelters are damaged or vandalized, the glass is brought to the
San Francisco Recology facility for recycling. Our Artist in Residency Program promotes the creative possibilities of reuse by creating pieces of glass art.
The process: The artist arranges the broken pieces of glass in unglazed ceramic plates, place them in the kiln, and heat it to 1,400 degrees. The kiln cools slowly over twenty-four hours in order to toughen the glass and reduce brittleness.
Please handle with care.
Item Special Note
While the plate is fairly durable, it is not intended for kitchen use.
