Item Description
Yun (clouds) Brocades are typically a made from a specially woven fabric and produced for imperial use. Yun Brocades were created beginning in the Yuan Dynasty (1206 AD - 1368 AD) and flourished in the Ming Dynasty (1368 AD - 1644 AD) and Qing Dynasty (1616 AD - 1911 AD). Since the 13th century, every emperor has ordered these brocades to be made.
The Yun Brocade is made with refined technique and brilliant design by traditional jacquard looms. Two artisans manipulate the loom, one creating the outline of the pattern, and the other weaving colored threads. Artisans can only make 5 - 6 centimeters of the brocade each day. The craftsmanship is regarded at the peak of ancient fabric production techniques. Modern machines cannot substitute for it even today.
This brocade comes with a collector's certificate and a protective box. It is 7.5 inches in diameter and can be hung on a wall.
