Item Description

You and your friends (up to eight people) will enjoy a unique opportunity to have an exclusive, curator-guided tour of this world-class exhibit right before it closes for good. Designed just for Alcatraz, this exhibit will never be seen in its entirety again. Make it a mini stay-cation! Sunday, April 19, you’ll be greeted dockside at Pier 33 with a lovely continental breakfast featuring Blue Bottle Coffee. After your dockside snack, you will board the ferry (8:45 a.m. departure). On board, marvel at unique views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands during your short ride to the infamous Alcatraz Island. Depart the ferry, where you will be greeted by your special guide, and appreciate the highly-acclaimed, site-specific art installation by Ai Weiwei, a former Chinese prisoner and now a famous artist and human-rights activist. This not-to-miss seven- part interactive exhibit will keep you enthralled until the call comes for your 11:30 a.m. departure back to Pier 33, when four pedicabs will whisk you away on a romantic ride to the prestigious members-only club, The Battery, for an all-inclusive brunch. Enjoy a delicious meal and restorative cocktails--Champagne, Bellini, Bloody Mary, whatever!--with your friends before returning to your real life. And take home fun mementos of your morning, including a signature Ai WeiWei LEGO set for the kids! Babysitting for the morning, is included, if desired and provided by uber-responsible and entertaining Hamlin Grade 7 students Louisa Conte and Lucy Lasater.
