Item Description
While the animals are what first bring many visitors to Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, the botanical garden represents an attraction unto itself.
Enjoy a tour of this historic site and discover the often-overlooked vital connections between the fauna and the flora. We will share the special history of its founders and introduce you to the significant and intriguing botanicals they established including the Teak tree, Indian Laurel Fig, Kapok, Council trees, Sausage tree, Bunya Bunya, and more. Along the way, we’ll also share which of the many of the trees that fill the landscape also provide food for the animals.
Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens is a member of the American Public Gardens Association, Association of Zoological Horticulture, and is accredited by The Morton Register of Arboreta. One of the fundamental principles of conservation is habitat preservation, and at the foundation of every habitat on Earth are plants.
