Item Description
Handbuilt by Ian '16 and his dad Charles right here in San Francisco, this hand-made electric guitar is modeled after the famous 1954 Gibson Les Paul Jr. The top of the guitar is finished in tobacco burst with the back, sides and neck in clear cherry lacquer, just as the original Les Paul was. The old Juniors are now coveted collectors items in large part due to their non-pretentious and pure rock n roll souls (discovered in the 1980s by budget-conscious grunge and metal bands) - they are loud and proud! This guitar is light and is very easy to play with killer tone especially on a tube amplifier. The original guitar was made with a solid 1 3/4 thick mahogany body mated to a mahogany neck, sporting a P90 single coil pickup with volume and tone controls and economy 3 on a plate tuners. Our guitar has a 1/4 curly-figured maple cap over an 1 African mahogany body and a quarter-sawn Honduran mahogany neck with Grover style tuners for better tuning stability. This guitar retains the P90 pickup, but adds an intonated bridge in place of the old style non-intonated stop bar. This is the Simons' 16th guitar, and 3rd for The Bay School; the team will be happy to work with you to get the setup you desire.
