Item Description
In the 20th century, psychology was a very rational field. The 21st century has seen the rapid rise of our understanding of the unconscious brain – both the many intelligent and adaptive decisions made unconsciously, yet also the biased associations we make automatically and unknowingly. Research has shown that unconscious biases predict our behaviors, from girls’ performance in math to doctors’ levels of treatment of black patients. In this seminar, we will explore how unconscious biases are measured scientifically, what effects they have on our behaviors, and several means of reducing them. Age: 10+. This is for a group of up to 6, any combination of kids and adults.
