It's nonstop laughs aboard the Twentieth Century, a luxury train traveling from Chicago to New York City. Luck, love and mischief collide when the bankrupt theater producer Oscar Jaffee (Golden Globe® winner Peter Gallagher) embarks on a madcap mission to cajole glamorous Hollywood starlet Lily Garland (Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Kristin Chenoweth) into playing the lead in his new, non-existent epic drama. But is the train ride long enough to reignite the spark between these former lovers, create a play from scratch, and find the money to get it all the way to Broadway?
On the Twentieth Century is the hilarious Tony-winning musical comedy from lyricist-librettists Betty Comden and Adolph Green (Singin’ in the Rain), composer Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity), Tony-winning choreographer Warren Carlyle (After Midnight, …Drood) and six-time Tony nominee director Scott Ellis (The Elephant Man, …Drood) that's back in the spotlight nearly 40 years after making its Broadway debut. This fun-filled musical journey to The Great White Way also stars Tony nominee Andy Karl (Rocky, …Drood), Drama Desk nominee Mark Linn-Baker (You Can’t Take It With You), Tony winner Michael McGrath (Nice Work If You Can Get It) and Tony winner Mary Louise Wilson (Grey Gardens). Grab your ticket and hop onboard!
Based on plays by Ben Hecht, Charles MacArthur and Bruce Millholland
