A simple reduction of primitive, industrial and organic forms drive the design of my work. Smooth brushed sterling silver finishes are accented by matte grey oxidation, semiprecious gemstones, rich pigments or 24 carat gold. Movement and subtle asymmetry in my pieces keep them visually interesting and a pleasure to wear.

A love of art and science is the root of my career in metalsmithing, the arc of which includes a bit coursework on the fundamentals, an apprenticeship and much self-imposed trial and error. My work is primarily spurred from an interest in shape manipulation and experimentation.

I live and work in Minneapolis creating and producing jewelry since 1986. Metalsmithing became a full time endeavor in 1997 as a second career trading the corporate cube for the wonderful tactile world of hammers, torches, saws and files.

Using traditional metalsmithing techniques such as forming, forging, soldering and casting I create a contemporary minimalist collection of small-scale wearable silver sculptures accented by gemstone, pearls and other complimentary metals. The distinctive soft glow of the brushed satin finish on my pieces develops more depth and character the longer they are worn. I love to make pieces that can be both quirky and elegant with asymmetry and movement. With over 17 years of metalsmithing I am continually drawn into exploring relationships of form, proportion and their connection to the wearer. Art and design were early loves in my life, put aside briefly for a career in science. This journey is a return to those roots and it feels very right.

My pieces are also available in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area at The Walker Art Center Gift Shop, Three Rooms, Paper Hat, Gallery 360, Uptown MN (MSP airport), Uptown MN (Mall of America) Three Sisters Eclectic Arts in Lowertown St. Paul, Minnetonka Art Center and Vale Craft Gallery in Chicago.
