Item Description
Enjoy a night out with this gift certificate for two tickets to any remaining 2014-2015 production at freeFall Theatre Company!
Tickets may be used for either The Tempest: Esta isla es mia or Mame.
Seen through the lens of Cuba’s fight for independence from Spain, The Tempest: Esta isla es mia draws startling parallels between Shakespeare’s final work and the post-colonial “New World.” Prospero, rightful Duke of Milan, shipwrecks his conniving brother by means of a magical storm. As the befuddled travelers encounter the ephemeral Ariel, the earthy Caliban, and Prospero’s sheltered daughter Miranda, old rivalries and new romances take root. Some are redeemed and others punished as pretense and magic are stripped away, and the characters find their way to the play’s climax. As Cuban author, Fernandez Retamar remarked, “What is our history, what is our culture, if not the history and culture of Caliban?”
The Broadway blockbuster Mame will have you tapping your toes and humming its hit parade score. Mame’s fabulous martini-fueled life in New York is interrupted by the arrival of her orphaned nephew, Patrick. Through her unconventional outlook and with a host of colorful and beloved characters, Auntie Mame creates a charmed world of adventure for Patrick. Through personal trials and against the larger backdrop of a changing world, Patrick’s Auntie Mame teaches us valuable lessons about the power of joy and fantasy in the face of life’s darkest moments.
Unexpected. Daring. Authentic. The mission of freeFall theatre is to pursue art's greater purposes and the transformative power of theatre - as a builder of community, a source of upliftment, and a builder of cultural legacy.
