Item Description
Free enrollment for one student in Killing My Lobster's Improv for Kids Workshop on June 7th, 2015, from 1 to 3 pm
Did you give birth to the next Amy Poehler or Keegan Michael Key? Do you have kids that are total and complete hams? Do they sing in the shower, talk in accents in the car, and consistently embarrass you in public? Well, look no further. Killing My Lobster is holding an improv class for kids. The class is equipped with a credentialed teacher and two aides. Drop your kids off and go grab a mimosa while they learn the basics of improv and have an all-around swell time.
Instructor: Meghann Hayes has been performing improv comedy in the Bay Area since 2006. She has a background in both short-form improv (think Who’s Line Is It Anyway) and long-form improv (think a play made up on the spot). She has been a part of Killing My Lobster since 2012, and has written for over seven KML shows/podcasts and acted in two main stage shows. She also performs regularly with the improv troupe Chinese Ballroom. Her comedy inspirations are Lucille Ball, Tina and Amy, and her students. She is a special education teacher for the San Francisco Unified School District and loves working with students of all ages and abilities.
What we’ll do: play warm-up games, establish a character, play Storyline games, create an atmosphere, and more!
Kids will be able to: work with a partner to build a story, create a unique character, create original stories with the help of scaffolding, follow the “game” when participating in short-form improvisation, interact and collaborate with peers in a supportive and creative environment.
