Item Description

A Bordeaux from the in 1855 classified Grand Cru terroirs in the Haut-Médoc.

The Cantemerle vineyard is situated on fine and deep gravel in the Macau and Ludon villages of the Haut-Médoc appelation. A rich variety of factors produce complex, balanced and refined wines which reflect the exceptional nature of Cantemerle's terroir.

After handpicking of the grapes from the 30 years old vineyards, the grapes are destemmed, sorted and ferment and macerate for 28 to 30 days in wooden conical vats. After the pressing of the grapes, the wine ages lot by lot for 12 months in French oak barrels (medium toast). Then the final blend rests in vats for another 4 months. An ultra-light fining is done during that period of time but no filtration occurs prior to bottling.

Cantemerle has a brilliant color, a powerful bouquet, and a soft, lively flavor. It is rare to find such refined fruitiness. This great wine can be enjoyed young, when it is charming, fruity, and marked by a vanilla taste which comes from well-integrated oak. However, it can also age extremely well. Fine, old vintages have impeccable class, with incomparable flavors of sheer elegance. Cantemerle therefore belongs to that rare category of the world's wines which can not only age, but also improve over several decades.

Bordeaux blend containing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
