Item Description

Writer and FSP parent Caitlin Shetterly will give a 3 hour writing workshop entitled "Telling True Stories: An Exploration of the Personal Memoir and Creative Nonfiction" for 3-5 participants.

Shetterly is the author of the two books Fault Lines: Stories of Divorce (The Putnam Berkley Group, 2001, an indie bestseller) and Made for You and Me: Going West, Going Broke, Finding Home (Voice, 2011). She is currently working on Modified, a journey into the controversial and intriguing GMO debate. The research for this book took Shetterly across America's Great Plains to our Heartland, meeting farmers, scientists and activists as she went; to Europe where she hung out with an influential group of beekeepers; and finally to California where she visited the labs of two scientists who are working against Big Ag and the chemical companies that create GMO seeds and the pesticides they are modified to withstand. Modified will be published by G.P. Putnam's Sons in early 2016. Shetterly has written for the New York Times, Elle Magazine,  O: The Oprah Magazine, Medium.com and CNN.com. She has been a regular contributor to both NPR and PRI.
